Wellie Race 2009
Thanks to all who contributed into making Wellie Race 2009 yet another fantastic success. The crowds on the streets were fantastic with people travelling far and wide to join in on the fun of the day. A special thanks to race Personality Pascal Scott who really entered into the spirit of the event in a way like no other previous Personality.

Wellie Race 2009 Race personality Pascal Scott precided over the successful 29th Chapter of the Castlecomer Wellie Race on New Years Day. The parade and race were held in nearly ideal weather conditions and the crowds were huge. The float parde was the usual collection of the wonderful and the unexplainable as the various participants vied for the honour of Wellie Champion 2009. In the end the Powley Boys collected the major float prize with their 'Hard Times' Float, The Last Stagecoach winning the Group Section and Willie Joe Meally just piping Michael Brannigan to take the Individual Honours. In the Wellie Race Michael Coyle retained his title in spectacular style and for good measure sickened the rest of us mere mortals by running it a second time to cool down! Mary Burke Farrell was the Ladies winner. To one and all that contributed to the continued success of the Wellie Race the committee would like to say thank you. |
